Preservice Workshops
Efforts to improve adolescent literacy must be linked with other secondary education preparation activities. These workshops foster an understanding of why this is so and give preservice educators the tools—books, sample syllabi, teaching resources—they need to emphasize adolescent literacy in their courses.
SIM Institute: Learning Strategies for Preservice Educators
($975 or $1000 after April 26)
May 26-30, 2009 (8:00 am Tuesday to 5 p.m. Saturday)

This institute will enable preservice educators in teacher education programs to provide empirically validated SIM interventions to prospective teachers. The institute will focus on exploring strategies from the SIM Learning Strategies Curriculum.

SIM Institute: Teaching Content to All: Content Enhancement for Effective College Teaching

This institute will enable higher education faculty who are engaged in teacher preparation to implement a variety of empirically validated teaching routines from the SIM Content Enhancement Series. Content will emphasize inclusive course planning and the use of a variety of routines to ensure content-area mastery of critical ideas and concepts by all students.
